“A journey to find your roots.”
Each piece is born from the designer’s memories, hometown, and cultural roots — reinterpreted through traditional Japanese craftsmanship and materials.
yosogi wide slacks
Color: Kachi
Detail
A two-tuck wide slacks based on the silhouette of “Dokan”, a modified Japanese school uniform pant.
The trousers feature Tobe-yaki porcelain buttons on the front belt and left back pocket — a distinctive touch that reflects satou’s dedication to Japanese artisanal heritage.
The color Kachi (勝色) is a deep indigo-blue with a subtle violet tone, traditionally achieved through rich indigo dyeing. The term kachi originates from the sound made during the dyeing process — “katsu” — and was later associated with the word for “victory.” Considered an auspicious color, kachi-iro was once used for samurai armor cords and garments.
On the right pocket, you’ll find satou’s signature hand-stitched icon, inspired by the ancient Japanese practice of “semamori” — a protective stitch sewn into children’s garments to ward off evil spirits. It embodies the warmth of a parent’s wish for their child’s safety — a small “charm” of love and protection.
Each piece by satou carries this stitch, hand-sewn one by one as a symbol of care and spirit.
